30th memorial celebration FAQs
This year, we will be clebrating John's 70th birthday on October 9, 2010 and 30th annniversary on December 8, 2010. Thousands of visitors are expected on both days so here are some things you should know before you visit Strawberry Fields.
Q: What time should I get there?
A: In 2000, the place was packed by noon with hundreds of fans. then the parks department had to limit the number of people entering into Strawberry Fields in the afternoon and all through evening. Get there early if you can, but remember that you may have difficulty to get back in once you leave.
Q: What time does sing-along start?
A: It usually start anytime from noon to 1pm, but if there are enough musicians, it might start earlier. Music will continue till 1am curfew.
Q: I have limited amount of time, when is the best time to visit?
A: If you prefer quiet environment, get there  before 11am. Some people get there as early as 7am on those days. If you would like to participate sing-along, late afternoon or early evening is probably the best time.
Q: What time do you observe moment of silence on December 8th?
A: First one is 10:50 pm, which is the time he was gunned down. Second one is 11:15 pm, the time of his passing.
Q: What the weather is like in New York City on those days?
A: Ooctober 9th is usually nice, mild and warm, in 50's. On December 8th, it can be bitter cold, like 25-30 degrees, but usually anywhere form 30's to 40's. It snowed on December 8, 2000. If you are planning to stay there long time, bundle up!
Q: Is there a bathroom near by? Place to eat?
A: No public bathroom is near Strawberry Fields. Walk one block on 72nd Street to Columbus Avenue, there are lots of cafes and restaurnats to go.
